Meeting #5: 10/15/14

To celebrate the Daisies earning their Amazing Daisy patch, we all made tissue paper flowers. The Daisies also wrote about their favorite experiences during their first Daisy Journey and then finished up with a game of "What's in the Bag?" finding more than a dozen interesting nature items including milkweed seed pods. Thanks for continuing to feed our worm farm food scraps from the meeting! The girls also received their next Journey book, 3 Cheers for Animals.

The Brownies had voted to begin working on their Painter Legacy badge and completed 3 of 5 aspects of it. We examined several examples of pop art and pointillism and Seurat's famous Grand Jatte was a favorite. The Brownies and I were amazed by how many dots this painting is composed of and wondered how long it would take to complete it!

Enjoy some of the Brownie art work! Some worked on still lifes, others on portraits. All took turns using unusual objects in place of brushes too...craft sticks, chrysanthemums, forks.

Thanks for all the donations of volunteer time, goodie bags, snacks and good ideas! All of our Girl Scouts and their families are appreciated.

10/11/14: WOW! Factory Trip

This morning the girls earned the Potter Badge at the WOW! Factory as they made a small pinch pot and then shaped an object of their choice. This was a neat project and I can't wait to see the finished products!

Meeting #4 10/01/14

We had an exciting meeting today!

The Daisies worked on the new Girl Scout Law activity books Beth put together. This, along with singing the Girl Scout Law song helped the Daisies earn their Amazing Daisy Badge.

The Brownies completed the requirements for the Fair Play Legacy Badge. First, they brainstormed ways to design a field day with supplies I brought. Then they put the course together outdoors...there were tunnels to crawl through, pipe cleaners for an agility course, hopscotch that went from 1 to 20 and finally, balls to be thrown into a laundry basket. After a successful test, the Daisies joined us and Field Day was a hit!

The Daisies have continued to feed and care for the composting worms and the flower garden looks great!

Thanks for everyone's help!
