2015-16 Meeting #17: 04/20/16

The troop has nearly completed our WOW! Wonders of Water Journey! Girls proposed ways to conserve water and to protect water.

We tried our hands at cleaning (canola) oil off of bird feathers. It actually isn't too difficult with dish soap BUT we each only cleaned one.

In many countries girls and women spend much of their time carrying heavy loads of water from rivers and lakes back to their homes for household use. Our girls took turns walking a lap around the school carrying water in bowls and buckets.

Girls worked in teams to build an Archimedes screw to move water from a low elevation to a high elevation. Great team work!

We then celebrated a fun meeting with Popsicles :)

2015-16 Meeting #16: 04/06/16

We began our WOW! Wonders of Water Journey today. We learned a few things about water and the water cycle.

Girls learned about the power of the hydrogen bonds in water as they filled mini-cups above the top of the cup with water, barely spilling any (for the most part).

We also repurposed old leggings to make dresses for our American Girl doll friends.

We will continue this Journey at the next meeting.
