Meeting #7: 11/19/14

Today we had a special visitor from the Avian Conservation Center...an owl!  Before our special visitor arrived, the Brownies began work on their Snack Badge by making owl snacks for the entire troop!

The Daisies made animal masks using objects from nature, some of which they collected on a hike outside the school at our last meeting.

Snacks were enjoyed!

Our special guest arrived:

The Brownies then completed their Painters Badge...you can see that when some girls think of Girl Scouts, they think of friends, skating and cookies!

The Daisies even did animal yoga poses:

11/11/14: Morgantown's Veteran's Day Parade

The weather was wonderful for the Veteran's Day Parade. We saw many familiar faces from other area troops as we prepared to march down High Street.

11/15/14: Food Drive for Rock Forge Neighborhood House

Thanks so much, girls and parents, for coming out to the University Towne Center Walmart this afternoon seeking food and money donations for the Rock Forge Neighborhood House. We were amazed by donors' generosity and collected over 5 laundry baskets filled with donated food along with $60 to allow Rock Forge to buy additional much needed items. The girls took turns passing out flyers with a helpful shopping list along with holding Food Drive signs and making and passing out Thank You cards. We did good work for the community!

Meeting #6: 11/05/14

The Daisies and Brownies got crafty making clothespin butterflies using coffee filters. Very cute little bugs, girls.

A quick outdoor trip around the school revealed Eastwood is crawling with bugs. We even found snails eating a hunk of pumpkin.

The Daisy leader, Beth, began a discussion on hunger. It was important to explain the purpose of next weekend's food drive and how we will benefit others in our community.

We shared information about our Salvation Army angel. She is a 6 year old just like many of our Daisies. Both Daisies and Brownies are earning money through their chore charts. One Daisy brought up an important point...it is a good idea for girls to keep a portion of their chore money and then donate the other portion.

Brownies are getting closer to completing the Bug AND Painter legacy badges. Today they painted moods using different paint colors.

Thanks to all the girls and family members who help make our troop a success!!
