Meeting #9: 12/17/14

Today's meeting was our final meeting of 2014. The Daisies completed their animal postcards then got pictures in front of our parade banner. What a wonderful group of girls who have accomplished so much this fall!

The Brownies completed the requirements of the Snack badge as they prepared a savory snack from Mexico, guacamole, for all of the girls. Not everyone was brave enough to try it but it was still a lot of fun to make as a team! I think each Brownie did sample the limes and cilantro though!

The Brownies also enjoyed making GORP (trail mix) in an assembly line. We kept it nut and gluten free so everyone could enjoy it and I hear the mini-chocolate chips were the best part!

Daisies were awarded badges for the two Girl Scout Journeys they completed this fall, Brownies were awarded badges for the many Skills they have mastered. These badges can go on the front of their sash/tunic/vest. We're all proud of your work!

All girls earned badges for special activities they have participated in such as the food drive, marching in parades, nut sales, making food at the Ronald McDonald House, learning the Girl Scout Promise and Law and more and these can go on the back of the uniform.

Thanks, girls and parents, and Happy Holidays to all!

Our Tag-a-Long Girl Scout :)

Our meeting wasn't complete until we had left the room in the same state in which we found it. This meant re-stacking the 45 cups we had to move at the beginning of the meeting. The girls did it on the 2nd try!

12/13/15: Caroling at the Village at Heritage Point

Caroling was a heart warming experience and this was the first time for many of the parents and girls! We had a great turn out from our troop and were joined by members of another Eastwood troop along with a neighbor friend.

We sang for over 30 minutes and the residents of The Village at Heritage Point were incredibly appreciative! Everyone had glowing compliments as I walked around and thanked them for their attention. Many commented that our girls were so well behaved. Many commented that seeing the young children and toddlers made them happy. One woman said, "Not only were they well behaved, they can carry a tune!"

I think seeing our young girls sent many residents down memory lane to when they were younger parents.
The girls were treated to punch and cookies and a lot of smiles afterward. Thanks, girls, for putting such smiles on the faces of our older friends. Thanks, parents and volunteers for supporting our troop and encouraging your Daisy or Brownie to do good deeds!

Karen from another Eastwood troop even arranged a treat following caroling.  A staff member at Books A Million read us Polar Express while the girls enjoyed hot cocoa and cookies.
