Meeting #13: 02/18/15

Daisies worked on their Clover Award by using their creative skills to make posters for the Book Drive for the Used Book Sale. The sale benefits Monongalia County schools in the form of Author Week kits, a children's library at the Bartlett House and book clubs at 10 different elementary schools this year!

Brownies prepared for our Mexico World Thinking Day table.  Several made the God's Eye craft that is a well known craft of indigenous people in the Americas.

We even had a Brownie engineer build El Castillo (Spanish for The Castle) at Chichen Itza from Legos! Notice a loose tooth that didn't fall out at the meeting!

Brownies also colored Mexican flags and colored information sheets on counting 1-20 and colors while listening to a selection of Mexican tunes.

A sister troop will add more materials to complete our tri-fold board below.

Finally, Brownies continued working on the Overnight Bags for kids staying at the Bartlett House. This week, we wrote Thank You cards to Dr. Frum, D.D.S. in Westover who donated two dozen toothbrushing kits and to Kroger whose corporate office donated a $25 gift card so that we can buy snacks to include in the bags.

And in the spirit of thankfulness, Daisies began decorating thank you cards for the hundreds of cookie customers we have had this cookie season!

Here is the finished trifold board we will present once World Thinking Day is rescheduled!

Cookie Sales

Email or text any pictures from cookie and booth sales. I'm proud of my Brownie and our entire family for their work during cookie season!

Meeting #12: 02/04/15

Brownies and Daisies continued work on their Safety Badge/Pin. Brownies picked cute character bandages for themselves while Daisies worked on memorizing their home phone number.

All of the girls earned their World Thinking Day badges too! The Brownies watched a video on Fair Trade and we discussed how buying fairly traded goods can help farmers, their families and entire communities since extra money the farmers get can go toward community health care, schools and more!

The Daisies listened to a book read aloud about the benefits of Fair Trade and worked on coloring sheets supporting the idea that "we can create peace through partnerships."

Brownies helped tie together pairs of shoes for donation...we want our pairs to ultimately end up in the same country!

We also received a donation of tooth brushing kits from a local dentist. We can use these to make overnight bags for kids spending the night at the Bartlett House. Thanks everyone!

A few fun pics at the meeting end :)
