2015-16 Meeting #2: 09/02/15

If your daughters are saying a catchy rhyme this evening it may be because they heard the traditional Girl Scout Brownie story. Two sisters become a great and much-needed help to their family after the wise owl tells them to look in the pond to find the Brownie elves. "Twist me and turn me and show me the elf. I looked in the water and saw myself!"

Brownies completed the Household Elf badge. We discussed recycling, conserving water (they have a little homework to estimate how much water they use during bath and shower time) and Daisies and Brownies decorated fabric bags that the family can use for shopping.

We also made a water filter using cotton balls, cotton fabric, sand and paper towels. We poured some icky water through the filter and while none of our materials filtered out the food coloring, we did see some pretty clean and even clear water!

Daisies made a craft to help remember the Girl Scout promise and decorating the reuseable shopping bag helped them earn their light blue petal: to be honest and true to their environment and neighbor.

2015-16 Meeting #1 08/26/15

We were so excited to meet some of our new Daisies and Brownies and to see many of our girls from last year. Welcome back!

Daisies enjoyed a scavenger hunt and got to plant special seeds and take them home.

After the Brownies designed and carved their own stampers from erasers, they used clues to find the troop letterbox. They could stamp the troop letterbox with their homemade stamps to show they had "been there."

Several girls sounded interested in the idea of geocaching. If they want to pursue this, check out a local pediatricians' site

Meeting #20: June 03, 2015

We cannot believe that the school year is nearly over! We made sure to have a fun final meeting with Girl Scout songs and games.

We also made Dot candy and toothpick domes and even added a few flowers to our flower garden!

Thanks for a wonderful year and have a great summer!!
